John Tonna brings to Praxis a broad and diverse business background, with experience spanning construction project and property management, transportation logistics, fleet services, and emergency storm response.

In his role at Praxis, John helps manage the day-to-day operations for several association clients, including Build Green Long Island (USGBC-LI Chapter) and The Energeia Partnership, a leadership organization focused on addressing complex, multi-dimensional challenges facing the Long Island region. A former Jones Beach lifeguard, John also serves as Managing Director of the Jones Beach Lifeguard Association (JBLA). He leads Praxis’s innovative College Internship Program, contributes to the Praxis Young Professional Network, and supports a wide range of clients in the transportation, construction, and land-use sectors.

An integral part of the Praxis culture, John is committed to giving back to the community. He actively supports nonprofit organizations such as Island Harvest, the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMCS), The Mary Brennan INN, and Community Housing Innovations (CHI).

John earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Villanova University. He is a LEED AP BD+C accredited professional and holds a GPRO: Construction Management certificate from the Urban Green Council. He represents Praxis with the Long Island Construction Association (LICA).

Born in Austin, Texas, John was raised in and currently resides in Huntington, New York.
