Peter Tonna serves as  Partner, Business Development at Praxis Public Relations, Inc., where he leads client engagement, strategic growth initiatives, and integrated communications efforts. At Praxis, Peter works closely with clients across the construction, energy generation, and land use sectors, advising both private companies and public-facing organizations on complex projects and stakeholder engagement. His work spans B2B and B2G environments, where he helps clients navigate regulatory landscapes, build strategic partnerships, and advance high-impact development initiatives.

With deep expertise in land use, commercial development, labor relations, healthcare, and employee benefits, Peter brings a multidisciplinary perspective to client service. He is particularly focused on supporting projects that drive smart, sustainable regional growth and strengthen Long Island’s economic infrastructure.

A longtime advocate for responsible development, Peter served as Vice Chairman of the Town of Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals from 2014 to 2021, where he evaluated and voted on hundreds of commercial and residential applications. He also spent more than 14 years as a healthcare consultant and liaison to organized labor unions across New York, further strengthening his experience in navigating complex public and private sector relationships.

Peter also serves as Managing Director of the Long Island Facility Owners Network (LIFON), a regional organization focused on education, innovation, and advocacy within the facilities and construction industries; manages projects, events, and day-to-day operations for the Suffolk County Village Officials Association, supporting municipal leaders and fostering collaboration across local governments; and co-manages the Praxis Young Professionals Network, which engages emerging leaders in business networking, charitable initiatives, and regional involvement.

He is a member of The Energeia Partnership and serves as a board member of his local PAL lacrosse program and The Rehabilitation Institute (TRI), a partner of Family Residence and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE), which is dedicated to helping individuals of all abilities thrive in their communities.

Peter earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the State University of New York at Oneonta and resides in Huntington with his wife, Elena, and their children, Lucas, Reid, and AJ.
